I found some rug grid at the thrift store and have been saving it. I first thought of using rag strips, but when I saw this rug I was inspired to make one. It takes a while to get enough poms and it's simple to construct. Just tie them onto the back of the plastic grid. I'm getting some non-skid backing for it so the yarn threads will be hidden.
It's a great stashbuster and I'm more than pleased with how it turned out. It's softy on bare feet and I'll step on it every morning when I get out of bed.
This is the only time any shoes will grace this rug! Promise!
This is a great idea. I love it. I've been making pompoms on my train to work as I bought a pompom maker a few months ago. I was going to make some pompom bunting but you may have converted me to making a rug. :)
ReplyDeleteOh frickin love it! HOw long did it take for you to make ALL those pom poms??
ReplyDeleteIt took me about two weeks to finish all the poms. I made them while watching my favorite television programs or sitting outside in the sun. I like quick craft projects and seem to get ADD when they take too long, so doing this in free spaces of time worked best for me. :)
ReplyDeleteomg! I imagine it would feel really funny under bare feet ^_^
ReplyDeleteLove it you should be proud!
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool (or should that say cosy!)
ReplyDeleteI recently got a few sizes of pom pom maker - so easy to use compared to pulling all the yarn through a little hole in the middle.
Love all the different colours xx
I really love this! You clever thing!
ReplyDeleteSo clever. A fellow crafter pointed me in your direction and I am now pom pom mad too, Poming at any opportunity!
ReplyDeleteCan you tell me about washing it? I am currently making a pom-pom wreath and would *love* to make this but would be worried to put it in the washer/dryer because then all the pom-poms would fall apart...
