Thrifty Haul...

It wasn't a bad day for thrift! I found an old 1930's typing instruction book which I plan on using for collages, along with the Wolf Cub Scout book from the 1950's. The typing book has me wanting a vintage typewriter in a bad way. Did you know that a man by the name of Albert Tangora was the World Champion typist in 1923, 24, 25, 28 & 35? Well, that's what the book says anyway. Just some more useless information for Jeopardy.

The book brought back memories of my typing class in high school which was mainly made up of women. They don't call it "Typing 101" anymore. It's called "Keyboarding" now. I also took shorthand and could transcribe at 110 words per minute. I loved it and relished in the fact that I could write something no one else could read. I wish I could remember it. I always thought it was a great skill to have for note taking, but if you don't use it you forget.

The vintage Dymo label maker makes me smile just because of it's color and it cost 45 cents! Still works and is actually built better than the new one I just purchased about a month ago. My mom had one just like it. I also picked up some cool vintage kitchen material and that binocular case was in such great condition that I had to possess it. I always thought they'd make cute little purses.

The funniest purchase was a book called "Mr. & Mrs. Cugat--The Record of a Happy Marriage." It was written in 1944. I thought I'd read it to see if I could pick up any pointers!

I'm going to try this again - sorry if its a duplicate, my computer keeps freezing. I've been checking your blog for awhile now, and really like the vintage finds you make. Motivates me to go look! Seems you are heavy into memory lane, particularly with regard to your mother. You must have lost a parent recently...
