Vintage Doilies

This project has been on my mind a lot lately and I finally finished it today! I've been collecting doilies from St. V's for some time now and wanted to display a few of my favorites.

I had some shadow boxes stored underneath the stairs that I was going to use for another project but I figured I'd do this instead. I bought these from Michaels unfinished, painted them white and popped out the plastic portion that I thought was glass. Plastic in a frame doesn't work for me. I cut out some cotton batting and linen for the background then used spray adhesive very lightly to adhere everything. This will enable me to change them in the future if I wish 'cause Lord knows I like to change stuff. I also used some little eye hooks to hang them from.

They're going to be hung on my freshly painted wall in the family room upstairs. Buck thinks I have OCPD -- Obsessive Compulsive Painting Disorder. We've lived in this house over a year now and I decided I hated the colors we used so I'm repainting every room. This time, I only had to paint the wall twice before I changed my mind--again. So, I'm getting better.

Is there a pill you can take for OCPD or should I just buy Buck another bottle of vodka and tell him to deal with it?

I am voting vodka.

I LOVE the project! I have some doilies that my grandmother made and this would be perfect for them!

sounds like your OCPD is "functional." I think the problem lies with Buck's irrational fear of paint change...for which vodka will be a most excellent treatment. That, & paint fumes will quickly bring him around.

Your doiley project is gorgeous! I agree about the plastic bit, too.

My vote is for vodka as the solution. He'll love any color you paint after that.

Excellent idea!!! Yep, the vodka option is the only way to go. They need to learn to deal with our decorating frenzies. Love, Esther
