Cuckoo for Tutu

Ta Da!

I had a lot of energy as a kid and in order to get me outta the house, my mom insisted on ballet and tap lessons. It just so happened that my teacher was the Governor of Montana's mother. Good ol' Blanche Judge.

Blanche had a big grey beehive hairdo and was a real ball buster, to say the least. She ran her dance studio like a boot camp.
No wonder her son was so motivated to become Governor. I'm surprised that I survived 10 years of lessons with her. I started at age 3 and then I quit in Junior High. Having friends and chasing boys was more interesting than spending hours upon hours after school in my toe shoes. Besides, my mom was also insisting I continue with my piano lessons.

The love of dancing has stuck with me my entire life. Disco was the hot thing when I was in high school. I was watching Saturday Night Fever the other night and was instantly transported back to gym class when we all lined up and did the "Hustle." I thought John Travolta was the coolest. Do you know it's been 30 years since that movie came out? Whoa.

After the disco age, I moved on to country music and line dancing, which was basically the Hustle with a twang. I haven't done much since, but I've got the bug to try Ballroom dancing with Buck. I supposed it's because of the new Dancing with the Stars show. I just have to find the time to schedule it into my week.

So, what's with the tutu? Well....my pretties.....my friend Doodle is making and selling these wonderful little tutus and when I saw them I had to have one for my pink room. I guess I'm a little ballerina at heart. It's so girly. I love it. Doodle's doing big tutu business. She's selling them in a boutique in the UK! I love it when someone does well with their creation.

Oh, and thank you for all of your kind comments on my Anniversary post. You're all so sweet to chime in on my "Coming Out" from behind the scenes. I'm kinda shy about stuff like that. Buck & I are gettin' all spiffed up and we're going out to dinner tonight to celebrate.

For those who've inquired about the Cabbage Roses, I'll have the pattern up in the DIY section next week. I'll let y'all know when it's done.
