Comfort Food--Friday #2

In my 7th grade Home-Ec class we made Cheesy-O's and ever since then it's been one of my favorite snack foods. Along with a Tab, of course. This is sooooo 1970's. There's even a paint by number that I'm working on in the background. I'm regressing--BIG TIME!

My parents owned a lounge and liquor store called The Group Therapy Room, so our house was always stocked with soda (and liquor...oh yeah.... I've got stories!). Tab was, if I remember correctly, one of the first diet sodas on the market. It disappeared for a while when Diet Coke hit it big in the 1980's and I'm happy to see it back on my grocery store shelves. I don't drink soda very much any more, but I do like an occasional Tab.

Here's the recipe for Cheesy-O's. I got my kids hooked on them at a young age and they'll whip up a batch every so often themselves now. These aren't very healthy, but they taste really good and are easy to make--that's why it's comfort food Silly. It's my theory that if you put melted butter and cheese on anything it'll taste good!

5 cups Cheerios
1/3 cup butter
1/3 cup parmesan cheese (finely grated kind)

Put the Cheerios in a cake pan. Melt the butter and mix in the parmesan cheese. Pour the butter/cheese mixture over the Cheerios and stir making sure the mixture coats the Cheerios. Pop them in an oven at 300 degrees for 10-15 minutes. Remove and let cool. I like to eat mine a bit toasty and warm. YUMMY!

I LOVE simple recipes that my daughter can make. It's even better if I'll probably eat most of them. Thanks for sharing & I can't wait to give it a try!

I love your little vignette with the Tab and the Cheesy-Os and the potholder (oh, the potholder is wonderful!)

I'm going to have to try the Cheesy-Os, they sound right up my alley!
