I'm not getting any funds for this as it's purely a labor of love for me. I enjoy taking pictures of various historic buildings, which I believe are diminishing rapidly with urban growth, and would like to create some interest for some of you who may be thinking about moving away from the big city.
I've been telling people for quite a while now that the public pendulum has swung so far left that it's bound to swing back to a more conservative lifestyle and there are a lot of us who want to return to our small hometowns. If you don't come from a small town and are seriously contemplating moving to one, this may be of some interest to you.
You can still purchase homes and historic buildings here for very little money. And, if you want to start a business or bring one with you, there are grants available for something as little as paint to actual business loans to purchase property. Granted, you'll be living a mile high, but is that so bad? It means cleaner air, little traffic, nice neighbors, and a sense of community. Something that is severely lacking in the larger cities these days.
So, I've started a little feature on the left sidebar called Tin Roof -- Rusted! It's the famous line from the song Love Shack by the B52s. I picked it because Buck and I always referred to our house as The Love Shack as it was small, needed work, yet was well loved. Even our address labels said The Love Shack! There are a lot of affordable love shacks here that people could buy and, with a little bit of elbow grease, would fulfill their dream of owning something unique rather than the cookie cutter homes we see everywhere these days.
