What I Made This Week

This gurl discovered she could make Dulce de Leche (caramel sauce) from a can of sweetened condensed milk in my crock pot.
For dessert, I take a spoonful, heat it in the microwave for about 15 seconds and then add greek yogurt and a few walnuts.
Yum.

I whipped up some orzo pasta salad with a little bit of olive oil, feta cheese, asparagus and sun dried tomatoes.
Lunch couldn't be easier.

I shared my Doily Heart shirt DIY.

Started croshaying an ordinarily extraordinary blanket.
Still strugglin' with the connection thang.

Should have a few listed in my Etsy shop next week.

Added lavender and lemon verbena scent to it.
Heavenly.

I'm finishin' up my Alabama Chanin Skirt this weekend.
Finished the fourth panel last night and was able to stitch the front together.
Will prolly have it all done while watchin' the Super Bowl tomorrow.
Can't wait to wear it!

And I completed the week with a little lovely flower tea light DIY.

Hope ya'll have a crafty weekend!

Tea Light Flowers DIY

I included these on this week's Monday Maize Likey List and yesterday I was able to make a few.

My version is different as I ditched the spoons.

I didn't see the need to take that extra step since the flower petals naturally curl around the tea light on their own.

I used $Tree tea lights (3 in a package) and flowers.
Dismantle the flower and cut them up so you just have petals.
Glue the inside petal portion of the flower first because they're smaller.
Just keep gluing them around alternating the center of each petal.
Then glue on the larger petals.

These are great decorations and would be beautiful at a wedding reception.

Just so ya know, each tealight has approximately 60 hours of battery life.

I love mine and will certainly make more!

Sew In Love Valentine Notion Box DIY

This gurl is super excited to show you her SEW IN LOVE Valentine Notion box.

I gathered and collected a bunch of notions, trims and little bits and bobs from my stash and made notion boxes for my best crafty buddies this year.

I used darling floral cupcake liners to hold each bit of cuteness.

It's filled with yarn, poms, velvet rick rack, lace, buttons, a wooden spool with croshay thread, a blank little stuffed dolly, a little wire hanger, ribbon flowers, tape measure, little pins, oh the list goes on and on.

I painted the top of the box with chalkboard paint but you could decorate it however you wish.

I purchased the paper mache' boxes here (they're about 12 inches wide) and will tie them off with some sweet lacey ribbon.

Each box has a paper doily heart on top when you open it and everything in the box can be used for a crafty project, including the doily.

I will be listing a few extras in my Etsy shop in case you don't have time to put one together for your Valentine.

Howdy!

Painted Heart Doily T-Shirt DIY

As promised, here's a quick and fun little Valentiny DIY.

While I was sitting in the doc's office, I was perusing a child's magazine and spotted a little kiddo wearing a t-shirt with a heart doily painted on it.

"Well, heart doily shirts ain't just fer kids" I exclaimed!

I purchased my heart doilies at Michaels, but the $Tree also has them.
The t-shirt is from Tarshay.

You'll also need some fabric paint and a sponge brush.

I positioned the doily where I wanted it and used double stick tape in the center to keep it from movin' around.

Spray and little paint on the sponge brush and go to work!

Let dry and then use an iron on the reverse side of the tee to set the paint.

Wear & Enjoy!

The Monday Maize Likely List

I'm so glad I found this!
Great information on taking pictures and getting great results with your phone.

Did ya know you can iron fabric onto the wall and it peels off easier than vinyl decals?
I didn't.
Thinkin' I may give this a go.
This gurl wonders if she could cover an entire wall with a vintage sheet.

These cross stitch wooden Babushka pendants look like a fun project.
Sadly, they're sold out.

Thinkin' I need to make a pair of these just because they're hilarious!
Free pattern here.

How cute are these?
I've got some leftover $store votive lights and want to try this!

My first grandchild will be born in April and I bet he'd look adorbs in one of these even though it'll be springtime.
You can find the free pattern here.

I have a feelin' I'll be croshayin' all sorts of baby boy stuff in the months to come.

This is so dang cute.
I'll need to make somethin' similar for the squirrels in my yard because nothin' would be funnier than seeing a squirrel hop over a little wooden bridge and open a door to his house.
Well...at least in my imagination it happens.

This would be awesome to do on a pathway.
Paint rocks with glow in the dark paint!
I die.

This week I'll be sharin' a super simple Valentiny DIY.
Stay tuned!

When Pigs Fly!

Little Leather Journal Necklace DIY

As promised, here's my little leather journal necklace DIY.

There isn't any paper inside as this is just for looks, but if you actually wanted to add some you could cut some paper to fit and use a leather needle on your sewing machine to sew down the middle of the paper to secure.

You'll need:

A strip of leather approximately 3" long and about 1 1/2"  wide.
You can use recycled leather from a thrifted jacket.

Pliers to attach the jump ring
Awl or bead reamer to make a small hole
Small brad
Jump Ring

Cut your leather.

Cut another small piece about 3 1/2" which will wrap around the larger piece.
Poke a hole in the middle about 1/4" from the end.

Poke a hole in the larger piece in the middle about a 1/4" from the end.

Insert the brad into the end of the strap portion and then into the middle of the book portion.

Fold it in thirds to determine where to punch a hole for the jump ring.

Punch the hole for the jump ring.

Insert the jump ring, fold the book in thirds and wrap the strap around it.

Hang it on another piece of leather or chain or whatever you'd like.
I added little flowers I cut from lace.
I also added a little copper charm to the other end just for fun.

Wear and enjoy!

If you'd like to purchase one, I have a few listed in my Etsy shop.
